Hi, I’m Kimmy — the baker behind Cooking With Kimmy GF.

I’m so glad you’re here.

My love for baking has been lifelong. My kitchen is old, my budget is tight, my time is limited – and I know I am not alone! Adding gluten-free to the mix felt overwhelming and expensive. I hope this site helps as a one stop shop for recipes, education, guidance and encouragement as you navigate the gluten-free world!

My journey into gluten-free baking didn’t start as a hobby—it started as a necessity. Years ago, I made the switch to a gluten-free lifestyle and experienced real, life-changing improvements in my health, including relief from symptoms like psoriasis, psoriatic & osteo arthritis, fibromyalgia, Hashimoto’s and the dreaded brain fog that comes with all of those.

As an avid home baker I immediately set out to make my favorites with the flours that were out there. But like many people, I quickly realized something frustrating…
gluten-free baking just wasn’t the same.

So I stepped away from baking for a while. The repeated failures were just too much. And relearning felt overwhelming.

Until one small moment changed everything.

How It All Started

One day, my husband found a new gluten-free flour – and brought it home. With a little encouragement (and a lot of curiosity), I gave it a try. And it completely shifted what I thought was possible. The GF wheat starch was a game changer! From there, I started experimenting again—testing, tweaking, and rebuilding recipes from the ground up – and branching out to try wheat free flours again too.

What started with simple bakes quickly turned into something more.
Cinnamon rolls. Bread. Pizza Crust. And eventually… gluten-free sourdough.

And that’s where everything clicked.

Why Gluten-Free Sourdough

Gluten-free sourdough isn’t just baking—it’s a process. A rhythm. A learning experience.

It teaches patience. It builds confidence. And when it works?
It creates something that feels almost impossible in the gluten-free world:
bread with real texture, real flavor, and real satisfaction.

That’s why it became such a huge part of what I do.

Cooking With Kimmy GF

As I continued learning, I started sharing what worked (and what didn’t). That led to the creation of my gluten-free sourdough Facebook community—which quickly grew to tens of thousands of members all learning together.

In April 2024, I officially founded Cooking With Kimmy LLC to expand that mission:
to teach, support, and simplify gluten-free baking for others.

Today, through my website, recipes, and resources, I help people:

  • Build and maintain a gluten-free sourdough starter
  • Troubleshoot common baking issues
  • Understand why things work (not just follow steps)
  • Create gluten-free baked goods that actually taste good

Because my goal has always been simple:
make gluten-free baking approachable—and worth it.

My Approach
